Create a Butterfly Costume This colorful pair of wings leaves fluttering through the backyard so much fun, even after Halloween is over.



Butterfly Supplies To create your butterfly costume you will need: a lightweight synthetic fabric/ ribbon/ 2 pipe cleaner/ a headband/ a fray stop like Fray Check or clear nail polish/ cloth adhesive/ coloured fabric or acrylic paint/ and dimensional fabric paint. We chose glittery drag paint to add a little extra warmth to our wings, but any colour will do. You will also require wax paper to put your wings on whenever you're painting them so that they don't stick to the surface beneath.



Build Your Butterfly Costume Cut two fitting wing shapes that are as wide as your child's arm as well as tall as your kid's back. Place wax paper underneath and follow the wing design utilizing dimensional fabric paint and then fill in the colors using acrylic paint. Twist the centre of 2 24 inch ribbons and a single 36 inch ribbon along the top of the wings, along with the conclusion of 2 10 inch ribbons across the side with fabric glue. Make the headband by cutting 2 rectangles from fitting cloth and folding at the corners to create bows. Attach to the headband with pipe cleaners.

Assemble Your Ladybug Costume Begin by cutting a large semi-circle out of the red felt. Cut a large triangle from red felt, making sure one edge is 2 inches bigger than the circumference of your child's head. Roll into a cone and fasten with fabric glue to make your gnome's hat. Use fabric glue to attach the eyebrows to the front of the hat. Finish with a glowing blue jacket and black buckle!
