When using aqua in a space, it will be a -- if not the -- centre of attention.

February: Amethyst "Aqua is unique, as it is both a relaxing and vibrant color," says designer Jenna Buck Gross. "When using aqua in a space office walls with doors . it will be a -- if not the -- centre of attention. Aqua is great because you can get away with using lots of it with no feeling overbearing or overpowering in a space" In this dining area, aqua is intended to evoke the amazing Gulf of Mexico; pops of orange additionally help lend a glowing, beachy feel.

February: Amethyst White marble and accessories flooring keep this toilet looking clean and contemporary, while really making the color pop. Bright aqua walls feel fresh and welcoming, with matching robes and decorative glass bottles bringing the whole look together.

March: Aquamarine "Chandeliers are the jewellery of your home; if small or big, they add drama to any area," says designer Jamie Laubhan-Oliver of D Home. We couldn't agree more when looking at this crystal-embellished design lighting the diverse, yet symmetrical, setup of the inviting bedroom. A few metallic accents, including table lamps and framed mirrors, add additional, yet subtle, shine.

March: Aquamarine Taking things a little more literally, a sparkling backsplash of beveled, diamond-shaped mirrors -- combined with all the boldly-patterned floor -- lends a royal touch to this magnificent black-and-white master bath.

April: Diamond "Color is really important and can directly define the plan and mood of a room," states Nina Magon of Contour Interior Design. "For example, light colours create a soothing and relaxing setting, while powerful stone tones could evoke the sense of opulence." Emerald lends a sense of richness, '' says Nina, and for these embroidered stools, "it was the ideal color to accentuate the space when paired with all the brass and the in depth flooring."

April: Diamond A stunning focal wall in an emerald agate motif plays beautifully against the black-and-white bedding and understated furniture in this welcoming bedroom. The sophisticated splash of green is echoed at the small houseplants that add another reach of lush color to this otherwise neutral area.

May: Emerald The walls and furnishings -- even the beads hung from the headboard -- all operate inside the warm and welcoming off-white hue in this dining room. "The pearl color is calming and works nicely with most colour schemes," says designer Anita Clark. "Unlike glowing whites, the off-white color blends best with other colors and functions as a neutral which complements most colours, values and colours."

May: Emerald In this tasteful kitchen, a pearly backsplash in colors of gray makes a stunning impact for a statement wall while contemporary stools add a contemporary touch, and glistening chandeliers bring a bit of luxury.

June: Pearl Who says the laundry area can not be packed with style? This farmhouse-inspired design utilizes decorative wood details, framed art and neutral hues to surround the surprising stones of the room: a ruby red washer and dryer. We love when operational meets fabulous!

June: Pearl Topped off with a stunning glass chandelier with scrolling ruby-red arms, this layout takes outdoor living to a new level of luxury. Defined with crimson touches all around, from the dining table to the cushions and decorative pillows on the chaises, this red-bedecked room feels regal, yet amazingly cozy.

July: Ruby A perfect fit for the tropical resort-style furnishings in this elegant room, peridot green provides a refreshing bring-the-outdoors-in feeling. Atop handwoven rattan frames, the glowing color on the bar chair and ottoman energizes the distance. A bowl of apples in an openwork metallic bowl along with the large houseplant add a couple more dashes of gorgeous green.

July: Ruby This happy, peppy colour with a shiny finish is just the thing to brighten up a shapely bombe chest in this diverse nursery. Set against a blackboard wall, the bit really pops while adding a brand new, lush touch to the spectacle.

August: Peridot Though not the predominant hue in this gorgeous living space, varying shades of sapphire add a satisfying jolt of contrasting colour. Crisp white grounds the look, while glowing tangerine adds a level of warmth and brightness. We love the bits of blue popping up throughout the scene and developing a harmonious appearance.

September: Sapphire "Opal blue creates a sophisticated, inviting space within this family room," says designer Melanie Coddington. "The key to creating a serene room is to replicate the color during, but that I also added several different colors of blue to create a more accumulated, intriguing appearance. There's opal blue to the walls and throughout the room, French blue in the practice area rug, and steel blue in the lounge chairs. I brought in shades of silver and gray to add in some classic glamour."

September: Sapphire Opal blue is patterned with metallic gold onto the tasteful wallpaper in this opulent dining area. The seat board and rail on the lower half of this wall help to ground the fancy paper. The pinks and reds featured on the floral-backed chairs remember the sparks of fiery color found in the mesmerizing birthstone.
